Pure Prairie League
Legendary country rock band Pure Prairie League headlines Casselberry’s Country Rock and Rides show on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at Lake Concord Park. The event begins at 4 p.m. with the car show and ends with PPL headlining the great day with hit music.
From their beginnings in the mid-1960s as a group of friends playing cover tunes to the present-day unit featuring founding member/pedal-steel innovator John David Call, veteran bassist Mike Reilly, propulsive drummer Scott Thompson and guitar ace Donnie Clark, Pure Prairie League continues to embellish the rich 43-year history of one of country rock’s pioneering forces.
In 1975 the band scored its biggest hit with the single "Amie", a track that originally appeared on their 1972 album Bustin' Out. Pure Prairie League scored five consecutive Top 40 LPs in the 1970s and added a sixth in the 1980s. They disbanded in 1988 but regrouped in 1998 and continue to perform today.
One reviewer said, “PPL’s sound combines sweet memories with edgy, contemporary muscle. Their vocals are a strong as Kentucky moonshine and the musicianship and performance skills are as sharp as a straight razor.”
Besides Pure Prairie League, the opening act is Nashville recording artist Bailey Callahan, who has opened for Luke Combs, Hunter Hayes, Eric Church, Billy Rae Cyrus, Scotty McCreery.
And there will be about 100 classic cars, sponsored by Cruisin’ Orlando, that will be on display around Lake Concord Park.
