Kenny Neal Headlines Craft Beers & Blues Festival

Multi- Grammy nominee Kenny Neal headlines the 6th Annual Craft Beers & Blues Festival in Casselberry, on Friday, Nov. 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park along with the regular scheduled Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar event. The free event, sponsored by the City of Casselberry and the Orange Blossom Blues Society, is excited to present Kenny Neal, an acclaimed multi-instrumental top favorite in the world of blues.

One of the strongest modern proponents of Baton Rouge swamp blues, Neal is a second-generation southern Louisiana bluesman who is cognizant of the region's venerable blues tradition and imaginative enough to steer it in fresh directions. Through the years, he has shared the stage or worked with a who's-who list of blues and R&B greats at one time or another, including B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Muddy Waters, Aaron Neville, Buddy Guy and John Lee Hooker before returning to Baton Rouge to begin his solo career.

Throughout his career, Kenny distinguished himself as one of the brightest prospects of the contemporary blues scene, receiving great critical acclaim in the process. The Chicago Tribune pegged Kenny as "one of a mere handful of truly inventive young contemporary guitarists” and “one that always has something fresh to say and the chops with which to say it”. During a difficult period of his life, Neal lost his dad, sister, and brother. In the best blues tradition, Neal took those tragedies, adversity and heartbreak of those years and turned them into great songs and performances. Writing, playing, and singing with a renewed sense of purpose and energy, he used the time to craft an inspired collection of songs that make up Let Life Flow. Released in 2008, the CD met with immediate critical success and many say it should be considered as a masterpiece. Emerging as one of the few names on the short list of current blues greats, Neal will perform plenty of foot-stomping Louisiana swamp blues with plenty of contemporary fire.

The opener of the big night of blues is local legend and two time winner of the Central Florida Blues Challenge winners, The Smokin’ Torpedoes. The four talented musicians bring their own unique style to the band, providing every listener with genuine blues rhythms, melodies and the charisma associated with bands paying tribute to the blues.

Besides the music, there will be a bevy of craft beers and about 15 gourmet food trucks from The Food Truck Bazaar. The food will range from mouth-watering flatbread pizzas and Bar-B-Q to scrumptious frosted cupcakes and fruit-filled crepes.

Let’s not forget shopping, just in time to get ready for the holidays! The festival includes more than 20 art and specialty vendors displaying their works of art as you stroll and enjoy the live blues entertainment.

Parking is available at Target, Fifth Third Bank and Home Depot. Disabled parking and drop-off is available at the Casselberry Police Department off 17-92.
